Recording Studio

Hey everyone, Justin here - SheTribes' resident RadioMan.

First off, you may have noticed that I am of the male persuasion. One of the extreme few Tribal Leaders to have that distinction! I've taken on this project as I'm good friends with many of the Tribal Elders for a long time, and I have an absolute passion for Music (That doesn't mean I have a lot of CDs, though it is part of it!).

I have made - and continue to make - weekly appearances on daytime radio since the tender age of 14. My expertise lies in audio production and editing, as well as a bit of recording here and there. I play the Guitar myself, prefering the subtle sound of a Nylon-String acoustic, though sometimes there's nothing better than getting out my Strat, turning it up to 11 and making my appearance on 'Neighbours from Hell' almost a guarantee.

A little about myself

As I mentioned earlier, my name's Justin, I live in Surrey, nestled in a quiet village in the middle of nowhere. I'm 22 years old and I am a bit of a techie by trade, I love my gadgets - especially when they're musically-orentated! You'll also find that I am the editor for many of the videos on this site, including Dora's exceptional poledancing vid (was great fun stitching that one together!).

I suppose considering the subject matter of this website it would be very rude of me indeed to not mention the fact that I am also very much in love with a girl I am going out with whom I met a couple of years ago. I shan't write any more about us though as I am likely to get very soppy and completely miss the point of my spiel here, I daresay I could go on for days...

As mentioned before, I am a Radio DJ (Not got that call from the BBC yet though, they obviously can't afford me) and my shows have always been about finding UNIQUE music you never hear broadcasted for one reason or another. I find there's nothing worse than radio stations which have a playlist of about 10 songs and loop them until the cows come home. So I'm doing my bit to rectify that. Read on and you'll find out how YOU can get involved.

My taste in music

I'm into all sorts of music, ranging from moden mainstream Indie (Mainstream Indie? Who'd have thought it) to Classical, Folk, a bit of Jazz, and of course rock in all of its forms. I suppose that isn't good enough, eh? You want names? I'm a big fain of the Kaiser Chiefs, Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead - the sort of ilk that want to make you get up and dance with a huge smile on your face. My favourite... 'band' of all-time though, would have to be 'Lemon Jelly' - the guys who got me into wanting to play music in the first place. Never heard of them? Do an internet search, you won't be disappointed.

So what am I doing here at SheTribes?

If you're reading this and are into creating or playing music yourself, or if you're in a band - great! Why not send me a demo cd/tape/reel/wax cylinder, and get it played and promoted here on SheTribes! Soon we will hopefully be launching an internet-broadcast so anyone in the world can tune in and hear your stuff.

Not sure how to record your first demo reel? Watch this space! - In the course of time I'll be writing articles on how you can record on a budget, even if that 'budget' is nothing!

Want to get involved? Stay tuned.
